FREQUENT FLIERS - Audio Drama

1 Oct 2021 - 10:45

The Second Chance Theatre Project has worked in Pollsmoor (COVID has prevented this) and with former prisoners since 2018. The aim of the project is to assist ex-prisoners to reintegrate into their communities by making and presenting theatre performances and facilitating community workshops. Funded by the NRF’s Community Engagement Programme, Second Chance Theatre is associated with NICRO and the provincial Department of Correctional Services. Associate Professor Veronica Baxter is the principal investigator for the project.

FREQUENT FLIERS is an audio drama that was developed from interviews and stories under lockdown conditions as part of the Second Chance Theatre Project. The script was written and performed by the Second Chance Theatre Project made up of former prisoners, staff and students from the Centre for Theatre, Dance and Performance Studies at the University of Cape Town, under supervision of the project's Principle Investigator Assoc. Prof. Veronica Baxter.
